Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

It applies to the Ascend Performance Labs website — the catalogue, product pages, cart, checkout screen, Research Guide and calculator request form. It does not cover other websites you can reach from here; those are listed under “Links to other websites”.

Ascend products are for laboratory research only and are not for human or veterinary consumption. This site is aimed at professional and research users rather than the general public.

What we do not collect

• Email addresses. The calculator request form is not connected to any email service yet, so the address you type and your optional updates checkbox are never saved, sent or shared. The form says this on screen.
• Order and payment details. The site cannot take paid orders, so no card numbers, bank details or billing histories are collected. The checkout screen checks the details you enter and then states that they have not been saved or sent.
• Accounts and profiles. There is no sign-in, so no name, address, phone number or order history is attached to a customer profile.
• Advertising identifiers. This site places no advertising, social-media or analytics cookies, and loads no advertising pixels.

What is stored to keep your cart

So your selection survives a refresh or a return visit, the site keeps a private record of the items in your cart:

• A random code in your browser. When the site first loads it issues a cookie named ascend-cart holding a random 64-character code. The cookie is marked HttpOnly so page scripts cannot read it, Secure so it only travels over encrypted connections, and SameSite=Lax. It expires after 30 days.
• A matching record on our server. The database keeps a one-way fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of that code together with the items in your cart. The code itself is never stored, so only a browser that holds the code can retrieve the cart.
• Nothing that identifies you. That record holds product, size, quantity and price choices only — no name, email address, delivery address or payment data.

Removing every item from the cart, or clearing this site’s cookies, ends the saved cart. The record is overwritten each time your cart changes and becomes unreachable once the cookie is gone.

Information recorded automatically

• Web fonts. Style sheets are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google and Google can see the request, including your IP address. This happens for anyone who opens a page here.
• Hosting records. The platform that serves this site may keep standard technical request details — such as network address, timestamp and page requested — to operate and secure it. Ascend does not add its own tracking script.
• Error diagnostics. If a page fails to load, technical error details may be reported to the platform that builds and hosts this site so the fault can be fixed. When a product photo fails to load, the note about it stays in your own browser and is not transmitted.

Cookies used

• ascend-cart — necessary. Keeps your cart available after a refresh or return visit. Expires after 30 days.

No other cookies are set. Blocking this cookie in your browser still lets you read every page, but your cart will empty when you refresh.

Links to other websites

The Research Guide links to CompoundWiki’s calculator as a source reference. Opening it takes you to a separate website with its own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.

How long information is kept

• Cart cookie: 30 days from when it was issued, then it expires by itself.
• Saved cart record: kept while the matching cookie is in use, and overwritten as the cart changes.
• Anything typed into the calculator form or checkout screen: not retained, so there is nothing to delete.

Your choices and requests

• Leave the calculator form blank, or leave the optional updates checkbox unchecked — neither is needed to read the site.
• Clear this site’s cookies to end a saved cart straight away.
• Ask us to confirm, correct or remove what a saved cart holds. Because the record is identified only by your cookie, please write from the browser and device you used, or describe the cart’s contents so we can find it.

How this policy may change

If Ascend begins collecting something new — for example taking paid orders, or emailing the calculator link you request — this page is updated first and the date at the top changes. Material changes are described here before the new practice begins.
